Several buildings have been demolished in the capital Mexico City and three other states. Dozens of buildings have collapsed, including more than 40 in Mexico City alone.
After earthquake, airport closed the buildings vacated in the city.
The president of Mexico has requested the public to leave the streets so that rescue operations do not get disturbed.
